The court passed a guilty verdict on criminal Igor Batenev.
A jury of Moscow’s Dorogomilovsky district court has handed down a guilty verdict in the criminal case of Igor Batenev, known as Gosha Krokodil. The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia accused him of killing six people in 1994. Then bandits, among them Igor Batenev, stormed into a sauna, where they shot six people with automatic rifles and wounded three others.
According to some reports, the victims of the attack were engaged in financial transactions. Last year, a jury acquitted Igor Batenev, but the acquittal was overturned on the state prosecution’s submission. The Moscow City Court concluded that the jury was pressured, they were informed about the defendant’s identity, which is prohibited by law, and in addition, the defense and the defendant, as the prosecutor put it, defamed the prosecution by reporting on the errors of the preliminary investigation.
A guilty verdict will soon be handed down in the mass murder case. Igor Batenev denies involvement in both the crime and organized crime.
