A former minister of the Moscow Region government and co-owner of the Gostiny Dvor exhibition center has confessed to the attempted murder of his common-law wife.
The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow has sent former Moscow Region Trade Minister and businessman Mikhail Khubutia under house arrest. The co-owner of the exhibition complex “Gostiny Dvor” before that himself came to the investigating authorities and confessed to the attack with an axe on the former lover Julia Van.
The businessman is suspected of inflicting bodily harm to Mrs. Wang, threatened to kill her and attempted to kill her. House arrest was requested by the investigator, the press service of the Moscow courts reported. Mikhail Khubutia will be under house arrest for 1 month and 11 days.
The defense asked to elect the suspect a preventive measure in the form of prohibition of certain actions. He and his lawyer declined to comment, Mash reports.
The businessman and Ms. Wang dated from 2018 to 2024. In the spring, in an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, she claimed that Mr. Khubutia threatened her regularly. On April 24, another quarrel arose between them and the businessman hit Ms. Wang with an axe shank. The victim was found to have a closed fracture of the hand, as well as wounds and contusions of the extremities.
