The former director general of GLONASS was imprisoned on two articles.
The Zamoskvoretsky District Court has sentenced Igor Milashevsky, former general director of the GLONASS JSC, to four years in a general regime colony after finding him guilty of embezzlement and abuse of official powers.
It took Judge Alexander Belik a few minutes to announce the introductory and operative parts of the verdict. The criminal case was initiated – first on the fact of abuse of official powers – on July 14, 2023 by the investigative bodies of the State Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for Moscow. On September 29 of the same year, the Zamoskvoretsky Court, at the request of the investigator, sent the former general director of the JSC into custody for two months, despite the protests of his defense.
In the course of the investigation, the charges against the former top manager were toughened.
First, part 1 of article 285 was replaced by part 3. 3 (the qualifying sign “causing grave consequences” was added), then Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (especially large-scale embezzlement) appeared in the case. At the end of 2024, the investigation was completed, after which the accused and his defense familiarized themselves with the case materials. After the prosecutor signed the indictment in early 2025, the materials were submitted for consideration to the same Zamoskvoretsky district court of the capital.
The hearings began on March 19 and took place in seven court sessions. In the debate of the parties, the prosecutor asked to find the defendant guilty on all articles and to sentence him to seven years of general regime colony. The lawyers asked to show leniency to the defendant.
As a result, the judge found Igor Milashevsky guilty and sentenced him to two years of general regime colony for embezzlement and three years for abuse of power.
By partially adding up the terms, Mr. Milashevsky received four years of imprisonment with a two-year ban on holding public office.
After the verdict was announced, the convict told the presiding judge that the verdict was clear to him. Igor Milashevsky’s lawyers and a representative of the injured party – GLONASS JSC – declined to comment.
GLONASS JSC Igor Milashevsky became head of the company in July 2018 and resigned in November 2022. Prior to that, he headed the Chechen Ministry of Transportation and Communications from 2004 to 2011 and was awarded by the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov.
