The head of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Tambov was sent to a pre-trial detention center in a drug case.

The Leninsky District Court of Tambov has remanded General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Tambov Roman Stefanov in custody for two months. As follows from the message of the united press service of the judicial system of the region, he is accused of large-scale drug possession (part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, up to 10 years of imprisonment).

Mr. Stefanov, who has been in charge of Gazprom’s Tambov branch since 2021, was detained earlier this week. The RIA Novosti newspaper reported that together with him, law enforcers arrested Ruslan Bragarnik, head of the regional Vodgazkhoz. Cocaine was allegedly seized from the detainees. Officially, the law enforcement agencies have not commented on this information.

Roman Stefanov is 45 years old. He graduated from the Military Space Engineering University, the Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, and the Academy of Justice. After serving in the army, he worked in the structures of IDGC of Center. Since December 2021, Mr. Stefanov has been CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Tambov.
