Donation service Boosty blocked half of the accounts of “foreign agents”, links to which are listed in the register of the Ministry of Justice.

Donate collection service Boosty has blocked at least 26 accounts of “foreign agents”, as “Virstka” pointed out. In total, 53 people and organizations have links to the service in the register of the Ministry of Justice.

The blocking of the account was reported yesterday by politician Elvira Vikhareva, she added that the same thing happened with the pages of “at least three more fellow misfortunates”.

As “Virstka” found out, the accounts of journalists Tatiana Felgengauer and Masha Borzunova, sports commentator Alexander Shmurnov, columnist Yulia Latynina, comedian Mikhail Shats, Astra, activist Daria Heikinen, film critic Anton Dolin and others were also blocked.

Felgengauer, Borzunova and Heikinen told “Virstka” that their accounts were frozen in the last two days. Felgengauer received a letter about the blocking on April 7, Heikkinen – in the evening of April 8. However, it cannot be said for sure that all 26 accounts were blocked recently. For example, journalist Dmitry Kolezev reported about the blocking back in late January.

In the list of the Ministry of Justice there is a link to the page of publicist Alexander Nevzorov, when you go to it, a stub opens saying that it is “blocked due to violation of the terms of use”. The account of blogger Alexander Shtefanov can be opened only in Russia, otherwise a stub appears saying that the page was not found.

Among those whose pages on Boosty have not been blocked so far are comedian Denis Chuzhoi, politician Ekaterina Duntsova, historian Tamara Eidelman, bloggers Yuri Dud, Ilya Varlamov and Maxim Katz, editor-in-chief of Mediazona Sergei Smirnov and others.

A Boosty spokeswoman told Vihareva that since the beginning of March, the service has been updated due to “the new law regulating the receipt and use of funds by so-called foreign agents.” She will be able to restore her account only if she removes all paid content from her account.
