Transneft vice-president was sent on a flight without a golden parachute

A 62-year-old top manager of a company was thrown from the 17th floor of a house on Rublevskoye highway in Moscow. His death was recognized as a “suicide”.

Andrey Badalov, vice-president of Transneft, died in Moscow. The top manager was 62 years old. According to a TASS source in law enforcement agencies, the man’s body was found under the windows of a house on Rublevskoye highway. “The preliminary cause of death is suicide,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Kommersant’s source confirmed the information. Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are conducting a pre-investigation check, based on the results of which they will make a procedural decision – whether to institute criminal proceedings on bringing to suicide (murder), or to refuse to do so.

According to available information, Mr. Badalov fell from the height of the 17th floor. The source specified that he “was experiencing health problems and was undergoing another examination.”

Transneft officially confirmed the death of Vice President Andrei Badalov. The death of the top manager at the age of 62 became known this morning. Kommersant sources reported that the main version is considered to be suicide.

The company did not comment on the circumstances of Mr. Badalov’s death. In a press release, colleagues listed his main professional achievements since 2021, when he joined Transneft, and noted his personal qualities. In particular, Andrei Badalov implemented “large-scale science-intensive projects”, which allowed the company to bring “to a qualitatively new technological and organizational level”, as well as to “effectively overcome the challenges of sanctions restrictions”.

“In the prime of strength and creative work, the life of a remarkable man, a unique professional, a reliable colleague and comrade ended,” – said in the press service.

Andrei Yurievich Badalov was born on August 17, 1962 in Krasnodar. In 1984 he graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, in 2008 – advanced training courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

After graduation from the Institute he worked at the enterprises of the defense industry, then moved to the IT sphere. In 1999-2001 he was a consultant at the Information Center of the MSU Science Park. In 2001-2007, he worked at Atlantis Communications Group, in particular, he was the first deputy general director.

From 2007 to 2019, he was the first deputy general director, vice president, and general designer of the Russian Corporation of Communications Facilities, established as a joint venture between Atlantis and the state-owned Rosoboronexport (later became part of Rostec State Corporation). He was responsible for the implementation of major projects, in particular, the creation of situation centers and integrated security systems for critical infrastructure facilities.

During the preparation and holding of the 2014 Olympics, he was the general designer of the Power Supply Control Center and the Integrated Automated System for Security Management of Power Facilities in Sochi.

In July 2019, he became director of the federal state autonomous institution Research Institute Voskhod. Since July 29, 2021, he has been Vice President of Transneft. In this position, he supervised the issues of digital transformation, information technologies and automation of production and business operations.
